Meet the Pastor
Pastor Sherri Drury
Sherri Drury began as our Interim at the beginning of 2025, and is now serving as our full-time Pastor. Sherri received her call to ministry while completing a MSW Degree from Indiana University. She has been in church ministry for over 20 years filling roles as Youth Pastor, Connection Pastor and Associate Pastor. Although she has lived and worked outside the Midwest, she is glad to be back “home” and feels blessed to have an opportunity to serve the people of Hills Baptist Church.
As a relational leader, she doesn’t know whether she enjoys connecting with others through preaching and teaching more, or through small group discussion and one-on-one conversation. She enjoys them all! Her passion remains: 1) to introduce all to Christ; 2) to disciple believers in their call to become more like Christ; and 3) to equip believers to bring their whole selves into biblical community and to live it out fully with each other.
Sherri has been married to Carl for 11 years and they value being an active part of the church together. In their free time they like to bike, cook, play games, travel and spend time with friends.
Our American Baptist Beliefs
American Baptists believe:
that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior, and that the Bible is the divinely inspired word of God that serves as the final written authority for living out the Christian faith.
the local church is the fundamental unit of mission in denominational life.
partake of two ordinances: believers’ baptism and The Lord’s Supper.
that the committed individual Christian can and should approach God directly, and that individual gifts of ministry should be shared.
take seriously the call to evangelism and missionary work.
support religious freedom and respect the expressions of faith of others.
acknowledge that God’s family extends beyond our local churches, and that God calls us to cooperative ministries.
have been called to be Christ’s witnesses for justice and wholeness within a broken society.
American Baptist Churches USA celebrates the racial, cultural and theological diversity witnessed within its membership.
heed the biblical call to renewal and the need for a vital witness in a new millennium.
